I’m fortunate to have the freedom and flexibility to be able to get together with my friends pretty regularly. However, some of my girlfriends have families and other obligations that that don’t provide them with that freedom. Nonetheless, I can attest that quality girlfriend time does everyone a world of good. There really is something special about Girls’ Night Out.

Unfortunately, I didn’t travel home to my parents for Easter because of the exuberant price of airline tickets from Minneapolis to Atlanta as originally planned. However, I was able to spend some time with my girlfriends in Minneapolis that I don’t get to see that often.

On Friday I went to dinner with a girlfriend that I hadn’t seen in over 6 months we had a great time eating, chatting, sipping champagne and catching up on each other’s lives. I really enjoyed the one-on-one time I was able to spend connecting with my friend.

Saturday night another girlfriend hosted a dinner party with about eight ladies she described has helping to make her relocation to the Twin Cities bearable. I must admit, it was surprisingly nice to meet a few new ladies. All of the ladies that attended have varying careers, professions and relationship statuses but we are all connected through our friendship with Mickey.

Sunday was a double hitter…one of my girlfriends and sorority sisters hosted Easter dinner and another girlfriend had group of friends over just because her husband and daughter were out of town for a few days. Both of the gatherings involved laughter, sharing recipes, reconnecting, advise giving/receiving, wine and FUN!

Do you have a girlfriend or any girlfriends that you haven’t connected with in a while? Why don’t you schedule a Girls’ Night Out, coffee or lunch with a girlfriend you have seen in a while or host a girlfriend’s brunch or happy hour. I promise you’ll have a great time!

I must admit there really is something SPECIAL to having girlfriends and the occasional or in my case a weekend of Girls’ Night Out(s). When I’m with my true girlfriends I have the FREEDOM to be myself, it’s FREE THERAPY, I get a RELEASE from the normal pressures of everyday adult life, I LAUGH (which I firmly believe keeps one young) and I normally get to partake in GOOD FOOD and DELICIOUS COCKTAILS. What a wonderful way to CARPE DIEM!
