My inner extrovert is starting to yearn for nonfamilial and real-life interactions, but I want me and my loved ones to stay healthy and safe. So, I’m staying at home. I realize that a mental paradigm shift is required in order for me to survive the unforeseeable future. So this week I am affirming that I AM BEING RENEWED during this period of sheltering in place and social distancing.
My home state’s shelter-in-place order was extended until May 4, 2020 (note: original expiration date was April 5th). I feel like I took the original order in stride, partly to the fact that I was blessed to enjoy the sunshine and outdoors of Fountain Hills, AZ. We filled our days with work, lots of walks with Charlie and finding new roads on the Indian Motorcycle.
Today is Easter Monday and it marks Jesus’ return to earth after his resurrection. He spent the 40 days after Easter appearing to believers, healing the sick and spreading the word of God. The acts He performed during those 40 days established the church and the pillars of Christianity. I don’t know how many more days we will be sheltering in place and social distancing, but I’m affirming that I will be renewed as a more understanding, loving, steady and physically stronger person during this time.
HOW ARE YOU BEING RENEWED?
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” -Romans 12:2
